1873 Rifle, SN86218
This Model 1873 rifle was made in 1877 and has the Type I, M77 rear sight mounted with the armory's
slotless screws. It has a long wrist stock made for the narrow receiver and has a ribbed butt plate.
The cartouche is missing, but the firing proof is visible. I do not believe the stock has been sanded.
The upper band has the very small "u".
The cleaning rod is the first version of the early rod
and it is not cupped. It has a Type III
hammer, a long wrist stock, M77, Type I sight, and three click tumbler. The mechanics are
excellent, and the bore is not super shiny, but the rifling is strong. It should be a good shooter.
