1873 Rifle, SN18545
1873 Rifle, SN18545
This Model 1873 rifle was made in 1874. It has all the characteristics of a gun produced in that year.
For example: M73 rifle sight with slotless screws, long wrist stock, ribbed butt plate, solid front
sight, no barrel stamps, Type I hammer, 1873 dated lock plate, the first style breech block with the
low arch on the right side, small "u's"
on the bands, circled P firing proof, visible cartouche, early cleaning rod and M64 trigger
assembly. The rifle has a shootable bore. The rifling is deep, but the bore was not cleaned
very well in the past. The stock may have been sanded in the past, or the usage has made the metal
flush with the stock. The butt stock has a crack only on the right side. A very collectible piece of
military history.
