1873 Rifle, SN58869
1873 Rifle, SN58869
This Model 1873 rifle is missing the ESA cartouche, but has a deep and sharp firing proof.
I have seen this before in early trapdoors, so it is not a surprise. For some reason
the rifle never went through the final test process. The rifle is an excellent
example of an early trapdoor rifle. It has the following features that are correct for a
rifle in the 55,000 serial number range. It has a blackened breech, high arch breech block,
two position tumbler, 1873 on the lock plate, a Type II hammer, a long wrist stock, M73
sight with slotless screws, solid front sight ,a Type I cleaning rod that is not cupped,
small v/p/eagle, small U upper band and large U lower band, M64 trigger plate and trigger bow assembly.
Also, the rifle appears
unfired with a pristine bore and chamber.
The stock has not been sanded, but there are some minor storage dings. It does not appear
to have seen any service. The
The metal is in good condition. The
mechanics are excellent.
An EXCELLENT collectible rifle!!
