1877 Carbine, SN141521
1877 Carbine, SN141521
This Model 1877 carbine was produced in 1880 and service has worn most of the cartouche away.
However, the circled P is strong. The carbine was not refurbished for the Span-Am War.
The bore in the carbine is pristine!! It is very bright, deep rifling and the cutter marks
from the rifling machine are clearly visible!! It should be an excellent
competition carbine. The bore condition indicates the carbine was not fired much and the bore
was well cared-for. The stock has been cleaned, but not sanded. It has the original "key-hole"
butt plate and M79 sight. You can see where the original slotless screws were slotted at a post
and put back on the carbine. The sight condition and barrel condition match perfectly. The color
case on the top of the block has changed to a pewter color from long exposure to sun light.
The stock condition also indicates the carbine was in sunlight for a good portion of its life.
