1877 Carbine, SN110947
1877 Carbine, SN110947
This Model 1877 carbine was made in 1879 and does not have a cartouche or firing proof.
The thing that makes this carbine interesting is that it is very close in number to a
group of long range rifles made for testing in 1879. The
M79 sight has very small mounting screws like the ones found on the LRR's. Also the
centering pin for the sight slider has been ground off indicating testing at close range
with windage being required. The stock has
not been sanded. There is weak color case on
the block and tang. The bore is excellent with deep sharp and shiny rifling. There are two
specks in the bore that are hard to see and should not alter the carbine's performance.
The bluing is excellent and the stock is excellent.
