M66 U.S. Marked Rifle

M66 U.S. Marked Rifle

This rifle was produced before 1870 and was issued to troops. The fact that it did not get returned in 1870 for the refurbishing for the Franco-Prussian War is quite surprising. The cartouches on the stock are in the same locations as those on an M65 rifle. At the rear of the flat is the ESA in an oval, and in this case toward the front are the initials FWS or HSH, which are hard to read. There can be three different sets of initials in the forward portion of the stock. They are, HSH, FWS and SWP. This rifle is in good serviceable condition for a US marked M66. behind the trigger plate are the stock inspector's initials and the fancy N firing proof. The stock has not been sanded, it just shows service wear. The rifle has a very good bore, but not pristine. It does not have any pitting, but is not as shiny as a new bore.!!

$1575 + S/H
