1873 Rifle, SN50147
1873 Rifle, SN50147
This Model 1873 rifle was made in 1875. It has all the characteristics of a gun produced in that year.
For example: M73 rifle sight with slotless screws, long wrist stock, ribbed butt plate, solid front
sight, small v/p/eagle (no last p which is correct), Type II hammer, 1873 dated lock plate, small "u's"
on the bands, circled P firing proof, missing cartouche(?),the first style cleaning rod and M64 trigger
assembly. The rifle has an excellent bore. It is shiny with excellent rifing and pit free!!! This stock
has not been sanded. I do not have on explanation for the missing cartouche. At one time it was issued
to the state of Massachusetts since the receiver is stamped MASS. A very collectible piece of military history.
