This hunting knife is referred to as the brass hilted Model 1880 Hunting Knife. The early one has the loop scabbard and the later one has the brass hook scabbard. This scabbard was made from a leather looped scabbard by R.I.A. You can see the remains of the three lines of stitching. Just below the brass is the remains of WATERVLIET/ARSENAL. The scabbard is quite strong and serviceable. The blade is extremely shiny with some very minor specks of corrosion around the hilt. The knife has been sharpened and is VERY sharp. There is no damage to the wood handle. The blade is extremely shiny, so I had to prop it with a magnet to get some contrast with the black scabbard.
