This scabbard is referred to as the Pattern 1878. Approximately 1200 were issued in 1880. The hook is to attach to the prairie belt having the three brass rings. The leather is nearly pristine with deep and clear stampings. The stampings are: ARSENAL/WATERVLIET, A.R. SMITH V L, and U.S. below the brass mount. Unfortunately, the tube has two compression dings, however, it has about 50% of its original blue. The bayonet is pristine. $225 +S/H
