M73 Rifle, SN118214
This M73 rifle was produced in 1879, and the SWP/1879 cartouche is barely visible.
I can see the 1 and the 9, but the rest is gone. Again, this is one of the early guns
that Samuel Porter cartouched after E.S. Allin's death. It has the early M79 rear sight
and you can see where the slotless screws have been slotted by hand. The metal is in
very good condition and the bore has deep rifling. The bore is shiny, and it will be
a very good shooter. The pistol grip
was on the gun when purchased. The stock has not been sanded,
just worn in a few spots.
